Classical Music Academy Program is the primary program of Sumatra Conservatoire. The program is
designed based on curriculum standard of international music schools and conservatoires.
Student obtain their classical Western Europe music education, including practical skills (piano /
violin / cello), solfeggio, harmony, music history, music analysis, percussion (orff method), and
chamber music.
Participants who enroll into the Classical Music Academic Program are required to take all courses
designed in the program, and will obtain internationally-recognized certificate upon completion.
Those who have satisfactory completed the Classical Music Academic Program are able to continue their
studies at music institutions overseas in Asia, United States of America and Europe.
Classical Music Academic Program Curriculum
Adventures in Music
A program especially designed to encourage very young children to perform and enjoy music. Special
books are used which introduce concepts to young children in ways they understand and enjoy, with
graphics, coloring and narrative content.
Solffegio
Music theory, ear training and Franco-Belgian solfeggio are offered in an unique integrated program
extending over eight years. You will immediately appreciate the value of understanding music through
various exercises in reading notation, singing in tune, rhythmic skills, dictation and sight reading.
Study period : 1 x 90 minutes / week
Harmony
A study of introducing the harmony of a composition including the chords progressions, voice leading,
cadences and basic elements of counterpoint.
Study period : 1 x 60 minutes / week
Music History
Learning the development of Western European music from time to time until today, supported by
audiovisual devices.
Study period : 1 x 60 minutes / week
Music Analysis
Learning about the main elements in analyzing music including melody, rhythm, form, and texture which
are needed by young musicians to be able to interpret and perform musical works meaningfully.
Study period : 1 x 60 minutes / week

- Pre Elementary - Elementary 5 : 1 x 30 minutes / week
- Intermediate 1 - 3 : 1 x 45 minutes / week
- Advance 1 - 2 : 1 x 60 minutes / week
Percussion (Orff Method)
A series of musical activities supported by several elements including singing, dancing, and playing
percussion instruments and recorders, as well as creating new music in the concept of famous composer
Carl Orff. Internationally, Carl Orff's method has been proven to help the development of the musicality
of young musicians greatly, and it is an activity that only exists at the Sumatra Conservatoire.

Chamber Music
Learning that provides students with the opportunity to collaborate with fellow students and other
musicians.
